Drink of the Week: The Sun Shower

While the Dark ‘N’ Stormy is a great drink on a summer day, its name just doesn’t illicit any feelings of summer enjoyment. Dark. Stormy. But all I want to do is be on a beach. Sand between my toes. The sweet sting of the smell of salt water on my nose. The sounds of silence echoed in the call of distant seagulls. Now that is summer. And that is exactly what I was hoping to capture a bit of in my original creation the Sun Shower. It’s a simple infused variation on a classic drink.

Sun Shower

2 oz Pineapple Infused Rum
¼ oz fresh lime juice
Ginger beer, to top
Orange wedge, garnish

– add rum to a Collins glass full of ice
– pour in your lime juice
– top with ginger beer
– stir (or roll) your drink
– garnish with orange wheel & serve

I posted the idea for this drink up on Twitter awhile back and it was suggested by a friend to substitute fresh orange juice for the lime juice. Normally I’m not a big fan of orange juice but this was magnificent. I took the liberty of naming it as well: “The Florida Sun Shower.” So grab a cup and…
