DOTW: Sour [Cactus] Patch

Yesterday, August 25th was whiskey sour day, though it is also celebrated on the 29th of August as well. I had my prickly pear infused bourbon sitting around (which I infused twice to bring a stringer flavor into the bourbon, so decided to make myself a simple whiskey sour to celebrate.

Fortunately for us all, I had all day on hand and tinkered around with a few different syrups added to my homemade sour mixes. This week’s drink was my favorite of the mixes when added with the prickly pear infusion. The ginger bite was a great addition to the palate of the drink, playing well with the citrus and prickly pear flavors as well as the natural tone of bourbon.

Sour [Cactus] Patch

Ingredients:
2 oz. prickly pear infused bourbon
½ oz. fresh lemon juice
½ oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. ginger simple syrup

Directions:
– combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice
– shake vigorously
– double strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice
garnish: maraschino cherry
